Abstract Details

Comparative Visual Performance between two novel trifocal intraocular lenses The Acriva Reviol Tri-ED and the Acrysof IQ PanOptix

Visum Clinic ,Rzeszow,PolandDepartament of General Ophtalmology Medical University in Lublin,Poland

37 patients(37eyes) underwent cataract surgery with implantation one of the novel trifocal intraocular lenses Acriva Reviol Tri-ED and Acrysof IQ PanOptix. 19 patients received Acriva Tri-ED,and 18 patients received Acrysof PanOptix. Power of the IOL was calculated for emmetropia. Several visual parameters were evaluated, monocular uncorrected distance visual acuity (UCDVA), best corrected distance visual acuity(BCDVA), uncorrected intermediate visual acuity(UCIVA), uncorrected near visual acuity(UCNVA), best reading distance(BRD), contrast sensitivity in photopic and mesopic conditions, independence from glasses, visual adverse symptomps, patientâ€™s satisfaction, defocus curve and postoperative satisfaction.

We achievied excellent results within the first month after surgery for far, intermediate and near distance for both groups of patients. Mean postoperative logMAR UCDVA was 0,05 for Acriva, 0,03 for Acrysof PanOptix. UCIVA J2,83 with Acriva, and J2,5 with with the PanOptix, UCNVA was J1,8 with Acriva and J1 with PanOptix. No reading glasses were used with PanOptix,28% need glasses with Acriva.33% patiens reported halos and glare , 33% with Acriva and 40% with PanOptix but not troublesome. CS measured in photo and mesopic condition were within normal age limits for boths groups. No side effects were noticed intraoperatively.

Cataract surgery with implantation of trifocal brought patients excellent improvement of visual function for all distances. Boths trifocals allowed patients to have high percent ( 100% in PanOptics) of independence from having to wear glasses. At the same time side effects were minimal and comparable. Very good quality of vision achievied during first month after surgery continued in 3rd month. Cataract surgery with implantation of trifocal intraocular lenses brought patients excellent improvement in visual function and increased satisfaction with achievied quilty of life. At the same time side effects were very low and acceptable.
