Abstract Details

To evaluate visual outcome and patient satisfaction after clear lens extraction with implantation of Tecnis multifocal (MFIOL) 1-piece, +2,75D near addition intraocular lens (IOL).

University Eye Hospital „Svjetlost“, Zagreb, Croatia

Tecnis MFIOL 1-piece, ZKB00, with+2,75D near add IOLs were bilaterally implanted to the patients after clear lens extraction. IOLs were bilaterally implanted to 13 patients (26 eyes). Uncorrected near (UCNVA), intermediate (UCIVA) and distance (UCDVA) visual acuity, spectacle independence and patient’s satisfaction were measured. Follow up was at least six months.

Mean monocular UCDVA was 0,94±0,09, mean monocular UCNVA was 0,83±0,11 and mean monocular UCIVA at 80 cm was 0,69±0,08. Two of thirteen patients asked glasses for reading small print and use them occasionally. Patients were highly satisfied and did not report any serious night visual disturbances. Five of thirteen patients reported mild halos when asked.

Tecnis MFIOL 1-piece low-add with +2,75D near add IOLs enable to patients satisfying vision at all distances, with high rate of spectacle independence and low visual disturbances.
