Abstract Details

To report the improvement in unaided visual acuity in non-progressive keratoconus cases previously treated with intracorneal ring segment implants (INTACS).

Alsalam International Hospital Kuwait

12 eyes of 12 patient treated with intracorneal ring segment implantation for treatment of keratoconus with residual refractive error and non-progressive keratoconus were selected for partial or complete refractive residual error correction by photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) followed by corneal cross linking ( CXL ) in the same sitting. All cases were followed up for one year.

All eyes included in the study showed stable improvement in the unaided visual acuity one year after PRK and CXL.

PRK with CXL can be used to enhance unaided visual acuity after treatment of keratoconus with INTACS implants with a stable refractive outcome.
