Abstract Details

To report outcome of topical linezolid in therapy refractory or non-compliant cases of gram positive bacterial keratitis

Department of Ophthalmology, Uludag University, School of Medicine

Retrospective, interventional case series of 8 bacterai keratitis treated with topical linezolid

Complete epithelization and resolution was achieved in 5 patients. Two patients were treated successfully with linezolid after penetrating keratoplasty. One patient had fungal co-infection and underwent tectonic keratoplasty. No ocular toxicity related to linezolid was nored. The mean ocular surface score was significantly lower with the topical linezolid

Topical linezolid is better tolerated than topical vancomycin and can be an alternative to vancomycin in resistant gram positive keratitis. It should be reserved for recalcitrant cases with multiple predisposing factors
