Abstract Details

To evaluate visual outcomes in complicated cataract surgery using Artisan iris-fixated intraocular lens (IOL).

Hospital de Sabadell (CSPT), Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, Sabadell, Barcelona, Spain.

Observational retrospective study. Aphakic eyes underwent Artisan IOL implantation were assessed. Follow-up examinations were performed for 6 months including subjective refraction, uncorrected (UDVA) and corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA).

Twenty eyes of 20 patients underwent Artisan implantation between November 2012 and March 2014. Mean uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA) and best corrected visual acuity (CDVA) improved significantly after surgery. 6 months postoperatively, UDVA was 20/40 or better in 50% of eyes and 20/25 or better in 20%. CDVA was 20/40 or better in 90% of eyes and 20/25 or better in 50%.

Implantation of Artisan IOL improves visual outcomes in aphakic eyes due to complicated cataract surgery.
