Abstract Details


To evaluate clinical results of microcoaxial phacoemulsification with new hydrodynamic algorithm comprising occlusion recognition and decreasing vacuum pressure in aspiration line by using additional vacuum valve when occlusion occurred.

117 eyes of 117 patients with cataract were evaluated before surgery and 1, 7, 30 days and 1, 3, 6, 12 months after. 1 group (n=77) was operated using Optimed Master phacosystem with new hydrodynamic algorithm, 2 group (n=40) – using Alcon Infiniti. Both groups were randomly selected.


There were no significant differences between 1 and 2 groups in postoperative BCVA, central corneal thickness (collected by AS-OCT) and endothelial cell loss for all period of time (p less than 0,05 in all compares). There were no cases of posterior capsule breaks, endophthalmitis, retinal detachment, IOL dislocation and any other complications in both groups.


New hydrodynamic algorithm provides safe phacoemulsification surgical procedure with good clinical results.
