Abstract Details

To report an unusual case with spontaneous anterior dislocation of a posterior chamber intraocular lens (IOL) 5 years after cataract surgery.

Department of Ophthalmology, Bina Eye Hospital Research Center, Tehran, Iran

Case report.

A 42 years woman was referred to ophthalmologist with complaint of sudden onset blurring of vision in the left eye 5 years after cataract surgery. Despite any systematic disorder, no capsular fibrosis was found during eye examination. The concurrence of IOL subluxation and Artery disease, diabetes, chronic venous insufficiency, aging, sickle cell disease, cancer therapy, malnutrition, infection, coagulation disorders, and smoking are the known risk factors for non-healing and could lead to IOL subluxation , however all of the work-ups were negative in this patient.

To our knowledge, this is the first reported case in the literature. This report may imply that IOL related factors could be considered for spontaneous dislocation of intraocular lenses.
