To assess the efficacy of Autologus eye platelet rich plasma eye drops as an exclusive treatment to persistent Corneal Ulcer.

Vissum Corporación Alicante, Universidad Miguel Hernández, Alicante, Spain.

95 patients with persistent corneal ulcers were enrolled. Previous treatments were stopped 48 hours before starting the E-PRP treatment. The patients were treated with topical autologous E-PRP eye drops 6 times a day and followed up for 6 weeks. Main outcome measures were to assess the increase in best spectacle corrected visual acuity as measured by Snellen charts, decrease in fluorescein staining and observation of the symptoms after treatment.

47% of patients of improved at least 1 line of best corrected visual acuity. Subjective symptoms improved in 97% of the cases. A decrease or disappearance of corneal fluorescein staining was observed in 70% of the patients.
