Abstract Details

To analyze graft survival and postsurgical complications of Descemet's Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty (DMEK) under a previous failed penetrating keratoplasty (PK).

La Mancha Centro Hospital, Alcázar de San Juan

Analysis of 6 eyes of 6 patients with prior failed PK who underwent DMEK with a minimum of 6 months follow-up. Outcomes measured included visual acuity, postoperative complications and time of graft survival. All cases were pseudophakic prior the DMEK.

6 eyes of 6 patients were studied. An improvement in visual acuity, 6 eyes had change in vision from preoperative data (0.1 to 0.6). The primary dislocation rate of the graft was 20%. The successful anatomic attachment was 100% in 6 months follow-up, the graft rejection rate was 0 at 6 months. All eyes are been treated with Fluorometholone ophthalmic after 6 months surgery.

DMEK after failed PK demonstrated improved vision these 6 eyes with a low complication rate. There is not published series about DMEK after failed PK. FINANCIAL DISCLOUSRE: NONE
