To evaluate a new surgical device, the forceps-needle, for different intrascleral IOL-fixation techniques

Department of Ophthalmology, Academic Teaching Hospital of St. John of God, Vienna, Austria Sigmund Freud University Medical School, Vienna, Austria

The forceps-needle was used for scleral perforation, grasping and externalization of haptics and sutures in a case series of patients with aphakia or a luxated IOL

All procedures could be performed successfully without any intraoperative complication.

The forceps-needle combines scleral perforation, intraocular grasping and externalization of IOL haptics, sutures or other intraocular structures in a single instrument, thereby facilitating various surgical techniques.
