Comprehensive keratoplasty techniques (Part 1)

This is a pre-requisite course for the wetlab(s):
COURSE DESCRIPTION: : This course will mostly be directed to surgical technique details: microkeratome and/or trephine preparation of the donor in both penetrating and anterior and posterior lamellar techniques trephination, and techniques of suturing. Other surgical maneuvers commonly performed during keratoplasty such as cataract surgery, iris reconstruction, IOL extraction or anterior vitrectomy will also be reviewed.
COURSE OBJECTIVES: : At the end of the course, an overview of the most advanced but not yet regular techniques, will also be reviewed. The main goal of the overview is to be updated every year because techniques and technology are constantly improving (for example: culture of endothelial cells or the use of femtosecond lasers).
