Abstract Details

To evaluate the efficacy and rotational stability of an angle- supported anterior chamber phakic lens (Alcon AcrySof Cachet).

Department of Ophthalmology at Infante D. Pedro“s Hospital (Centro Hospitalar Baixo Vouga).

Observational study of 47 myopic eyes. Phakic IOLs were implanted by the same surgeon in topical anesthesia. Outcomes of visual acuity, IOL rotation and endothelial cell count (specular microscopy) were evaluated 1 day, 1 month, 3 months and 6 months after surgery.

In short-term follow-up, all the eyes showed an uncorrected visual acuity of 20/25 or better, with a good rotational stability of the IOL. The preliminary results of endothelial cell count were not significantly changed in comparison to preoperative values.

Early postoperative and short-term follow-up showed that implantation of the Alcon AcrySof Cachet IOL is an effective, safe and predictable method for the correction of moderate to high myopia. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
