Abstract Details

To evaluate the visual outcomes after AT LISA multifocal toric (Carl Zeiss Meditec) intraocular lens (IOL) implantation in patients with cataract and corneal astigmatism.

Department of Ophthalmology, National University Hospital Eye Centre, Singapore

A retrospective review of 7 consecutive eyes of 4 patients who had cataract surgery with implantation of toric diffractive multifocal IOL performed by a single surgeon. Preoperative and one month postoperative best corrected near and distant visual acuities as well as their refractive errors were evaluated.

Preoperative mean spherical equivalent of the patients was -1.29D and postoperatively, it was -0.11D. All patients recorded N5 for near vision one month after surgery. None of the eyes reported residual refractive astigmatism. For distance, 4 eyes were Plano and 2 eyes were within -0.5D. Uncorrected distance visual acuity was 6/7.5 or better in all eyes. There were no significant glares, halos or other visual symptoms reported.

Our results have shown that good distant and near vision correction is obtained with the relatively new diffractive multifocal IOL. This allows spectacle independence for near and far to be achieved. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
