Abstract Details

To report the visual function of a high myopic Chinese patient after bilateral cataract surgery with hybrid monovision that uses monofocal intraocular lens in one eye and diffractive multifocal lens in the other eye

The Hong Kong Cataract and Refractive Specialists, Hong Kong

Hybrid monovision was achieved with monofocal intraocular lens (MA60MA 4.0D) in the dominant eye and diffractive multifocal lens (SN6AD1 6.0D) for non-dominant eye. This was chosen because diffractive multifocal lens of 4.0D was not available. The target refraction was emmetropia for both eyes. Visual acuity at various distances, reading ability and patient satisfaction were measured.

The uniocular and binocular visual acuities were 1.0 for both eyes at various distances. The patient reported 95% of time with spectacle indepdence. There was no waxy vision reported and he was happy with the hybrid monovision technique.

Hybrid monovision is an effective method for managing loss of accommodation after cataract surgery in high myopic patient with good visual function and high patient satisfaction. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
