To evaluate the characteristics of glaucoma patient and to compare the glaucoma proportion in numbers, blindness rate, severity as well as to know the underlying cause of secondary glaucoma in 10-year period.

A descriptive and retrospective study conducted in Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, Jakarta of glaucoma cases from January 2001 to December 2010.


This study collected 3.203 patients consist of male 1710 (53%) and female 1493 (47%). Mean age of the patient were older than 40 years (78,96%). Mean IOP were 28-29,5±15,5-16 mmHg, mean visual acuity (logMar) were 1,24±1,38 and 1,19±1,44 in the RE and LE recpectively. There were 619 (19,3%) patient with POAG, 600 (18,7%) patient with PACG and 1010 (31,5%) patient with secondary glaucoma. Mean age of POAG and PACG patient were 60-69 years and 50-59 years, respectively. The most common unilateral blindness is due to secondary glaucoma (31,5%), followed by PACG (18,1%) and POAG (13,7%). The most common bilateral blindess is due to secondary glaucoma (10,2%), followed by PACG (6,21%) and POAG (6,09%). Secondary glaucoma has the highest blindness rate (41,7 %). PACG is the second most common cause of blindess (24,2%) followed by POAG (19,8%). Secondary glaucoma related with lens is the most common caused followed by post surgery, trauma and inflammation.


Majority of patients are male and older than 40 yo. The most common glaucoma diagnosis in 10-years period is secondary glaucoma, PACG and POAG respectively. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
