Abstract Details

To report 6 cases in which a toric intraocular lens (IOL) implantation was used in patients with stable ectatic corneas.

National Eye Hospital

This prospective study included six cases of postlasik ectasia or keratoconus stable for one year, implanted with Toric Acrysof SN60TT IOLs. Age, pre- and postoperative uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA) and corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA), objective and subjective refraction, total astigmatism and toric IOL rotation were analyzed. Postoperative follow up were 9 months.

Mean age was 38.3 ± 6.8 years. There was significant improvement in mean postoperative UDVA and CDVA with a mean difference 0.17 ± 0.10 (P = 0.01) and 0.20 ± 0.09 (P = 0.00) respectively. There was significant decrease in mean postoperative refractive cylinder with a mean difference 1.75 ± 1.70 (P = 0.05). The mean postoperative IOL rotation was 6.6 ± 4.7 degrees.

Toric IOLs implantation can be used to correct astigmatism in stable ectatic corneas. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
