Abstract Details

to demonstrate the technique of recovering a drowning nucleus/segment during Phacoemulsification

Prakash Netralaya & Retina Foundation, Aligarh, U.P., India

Pars plana entered thru conjunctiva with 20G MVR. Drowned segment pushed into AC. Incision enlarged. Segment delivered. After vitrectomy, IOL placed in sulcus. Wound closed by hydration.

Excellent visual results are achieved, comparable to uncomplicated Phaco surgery.

Despite a mishap during Phaco surgery, this simple technique lets us implant a PC IOL as well s avoid time consuming, expensive and complicated VR surgery. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE?: No
