Abstract Details

To compare the visual outcomes and complications after suture-assisted and suture less Scleral Fixated Intraocular lens

Aravind Eye Hospital, Coimbatore, India.

A Retrospective study of fifty seven patients who underwent Scleral fixated Intraocular either by using Prolene sutures or intra scleral tucking of haptics. Main parameters evaluated were visual outcomes and complications

Fifty seven patients were included in the study (n=24 sutured, n=33 suture less). The most common indication for SFIOL implantation was subluxated IOL (54%) and surgical aphakia (28%). At last follow-up (6 months),Median Log MAR visual acuity improved from baseline (0.48 to 0.18)(p-0.131) in sutured group and (0.3 to 0.18) (p- 0.0003) in suture less group. Vitreous haemorrhage was the commonest complication in both the groups,( 37.5% ) in sutured group and (39.3%) in suture less group. Straie keratitis (20.4%) and secondary glaucoma (16.6%) was noted with suture fixation group

Visual outcomes were similar in both the groups. Suture less group was associated with fewer complications
