Abstract Details

To evaluate visual, refractive outcomes and quality of vision after implantation of the AT LISA tri 839MP intraocular lens.

Department of Biomedical Engineering, Tehran Science and Research Branch, Islamic Azad University, Tehran, Iran

This prospective case series study comprised 20 cataractous eyes of patients who underwent phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation (mean age 56.02 years; range 35 to 72 years). Spherical equivalent (SE), uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA), corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA), uncorrected intermediate visual acuity (UIVA), corrected intermediate visual acuity (CIVA), uncorrected near visual acuity (UNVA), corrected near visual acuity (CNVA) were measured 1, 3 and 6 months after surgery. Contrast sensitivity (CS) was measured at 6 months. Subjective quality of vision and presence of dysphotopsia by a short questionnaire were evaluated postoperatively.

At 6 months, mean visual acuity were: 0.11 Â±0.12, 0.03 Â± 0.05, 0.07 Â± 0.07, 0.02 Â± 0.04, 0.05 Â± 0.07 and 0.01 Â± 0.04 LogMAR for UDVA, CDVA, UIVA, CIVA, UNVA and CNVA, respectively. Mean values of SE were-0.55 Â± 0.35D. These variables improved over time but significant change was only detected in SE (P=0.003). Mean CS value was 1.73 Â± 0.07. Mean scores (0 = no symptoms; 1 = strong symptoms) for glare and halos were 0.13 Â± 0.31 and 0.1 Â± 0.3.These phenomena reduced over time. Patientsâ€™ level of satisfaction mean score for performing activities was 96.07%.

The AT LISA tri 839MP intraocular lens provides excellent uncorrected distance, intermediate, near vision and contrast sensitivity. This intraocular lens showed minimal level of photic phenomena and high level of patient satisfaction.
