Abstract Details

Purpose:

Analysis of the functional results and amblyopia development after unilateral Implantation of an enhanced depth of focus (EDOF) IOL with a pinhole effect in an unilateral congenital cataract case.

Setting:

Eyeclinincs Ahaus-Raesfeld-Rheine, Gerl & Kretz and Collegues, Germany

Methods:

After unilateral Implantation of an EDOF IOL in a case with congenital unilateral cataract monocular and binocular, corrected and uncorrected functional results have been evaluated.

Results:

Postoperative a regular healing process was found. Already on the first day after surgery CDVA increased from 0.5 to 0.3 logMAR. Over a follow up period of 6 weeks CDVA and DCVA stabilized to 0.2 logMAR.

Conclusions:

The use of an EDOF IOL implantation in unilateral congenital seems promising. In our case only distance glasses are needed for correction.
