Abstract Details

Purpose:

Analysing the postoperative residual refractive astigmatism (PRRA) of different IOL toricity subgroups following 677 T-IOL implantation performed with Verion Image Guided System by 10 surgeons.

Setting:

Petz Aladar County Hospital, Gyor, Hungary

Methods:

Retrospective analysis of postoperative residual refractive astigmatism in different astigmatic subgroups. Surgeries were performed by 10 surgeons, corneal marking was made with Verion Image Guided System (ALCON). 677 T-IOLs (Alcon SN6AT2-9) were implanted. Preoperative corneal astigmatism measured both with Verion Reference Unit and IOLMaster 500. IOL calculation was performed with Holladay2 formula. Patients' results with BCVA of logMAR 0,3 or better were evaluated.

Results:

Mean preoperative corneal astigmatism measured with Verion Reference Unit and IOLMaster 500 were 1,38D (SD:0,89 CI95%:1,31-1,45) and 1,37 (SD:0,88 CI95%: 1,30-1,44) respectively. Mean postoperative residual refractive astigmatism (PRRA) was 0,24 (SD:0,47 CI95%:0,20-0,28). The mean PRRA ranged from 0,07 (SD:0,23 CI95%:0,02-0,12) to 0,80 (SD:0,82 CI95%:0-1,62) between the SN6AT2 and SN6AT9 subgroups.

Conclusions:

Digital image guided system showed excellent postoperative residual refractive astigmatism results in mild and moderate astigmatic cases even up to the T8 group with good predictability and performance.
