Femtosecond laser assisted keratoplasty in nanophthalmos

Abstract Details

Purpose:

To report a case with opaque cornea and small eyes which suction fixation ring aplication was impossible.

Setting:

Birinci Eye Hospital

Methods:

Femtosecond laser (FSL) keratoplasty were planned for the 76-year old women with poor vision due to coenal leucoma. The placement of a disposable suction fixation ring was not achieved due to nanophthalmic eye. FSL application was decide to do without suction of the globe. The applanation cone was pressed against the globe until the full contact was achieved with the cornea. The globe was fixed around the applanation cone with the forceps.

Results:

Successuful mushroom shape cut was achieved with FSL on the recipient bed without suction ring.

Conclusions:

The corneal cut may continue without suction fixation ring in a special cases
