Abstract Details

Purpose:

We aim to evaluate and report the visual results achieved in patients, to whom Lentis M plus MF 30 multifocal intraocular lenses were implanted after cataract surgery.

Setting:

West Eye Ophthalmology Clinic, Izmir,Turkey

Methods:

In this prospective study, Lentis M plus MF 30 multifocal intraocular lenses were implanted to 124 eyes of 62 patients and eyes of 4 monocular patients following a cataract surgery by phacoemulsification at 2.2 mm. Uncorrected and corrected distance visual acuity (UCDVA, CDVA), uncorrected and corrected intermediate (UCIVA,CIVA) and near visual acuity (UCNVA, CNVA) of patients were evaluated. In addition, glare and halo phenomena as well as patient satisfaction were questioned.

Results:

The mean age was 59.4 years. In the postoperative 6 month, UCDVA was 8/10 (Snellen) and above for 95% of the patients, UCNVA at 35 cm was J1 and above for 98% of the patients, and UCIVA was J4 and above for 89% of the patients. CDVA 8/10 and above for 99%, CNVA was J1 and above for 100% and CIVA was J3 and above for 95%. Glare and halo phenomena were not observed in any of the patients. More than 90% of the patients stated that they would suggest this lens to other people as well.

Conclusions:

Thanks to its unique bifocal design, Lentis M plus MF 30 multifocal intraocular lens provides high patient satisfaction with regards to distance, intermediate and near visual acuity, and it’s also observed that visual symptoms like glare and halo are at minimum level.
