Abstract Details

Purpose:

Research of stability of IOL anatomic position and a functional condition of eyes in the remote period of a phacoemulsification of the age cataract burdened by a lens subluxation of the first degree.

Setting:

The Khabarovsk branch of the State Institution Eye Microsurgery Complex named after S.N. Fyodorov, Khabarovsk, Russia

Methods:

29 patients (30 eyes): 55 till 86 years. Men – 16, women – 13. Initial existence of lens subluxation of the first degree. Unripe and mature stages of a cataract were in the majority of eyes. In 4 eyes - pseudoexfoliation syndrome; in 8 eyes - glaucoma; in 2 eyes - consequences of slight contusional injury; 2 eyes - uncomplicated myopia of high degree; 1 eye - strabismus. Operations: Stellaris, standard parameters, self-sealing corneal tunnel incision 2,2 mm. RSP-3 IOL was implanted in pupil area through cartridge. Then it was hemmed to iris by nylon 10-00. The observation term – 3.5-4 years.

Results:

All surgeries took place without complications. The early postoperative period proceeded without features. 4 years later the IOL central situation was revealed in all 30 eyes (100%). Additional examination of IOL situation by Pentakam didn't tap dislocation in one case. Average values of a vizometry made 0,62. The average level of VGD – 19.1 mm Hg. However, this indicator was reached by means of a hypotensive regimen – in 5 eyes, by antiglaucomatous surgery – in 3 eyes (1 from them – laser iridectomy). Morphometric parameters of a macular retina in all eyes met age standard.

Conclusions:

The developed method of extraction of an age cataract at the first degree of a lens subluxation allowed to achieve steadily central IOL situation, high visual functions in 97% of the operated eyes in the next and remote terms (4 years).
