Experience with diffractive multifocal IOL implanted bilaterally for improvement in refraction as well as visual acuity of patients undergone cataract surgery

Abstract Details

Purpose:

To report clinical experience with Diffractive Multifocal IOL implanted bilaterally.

Setting:

Beyoglu Eye Research and Training Hospital, Istanbul Turkey

Methods:

Standard procedure, keratometric, refractive and visual acuity data were collected on patients listed for cataract surgery. Diffractive multifocal IOLs were suggested for patients with Cataract. Bilateral implantation of Eyecryl ACTV DIYHS600ROH was performed after phacoemulsification. The following parameters were carried out; uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA), best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and refraction. The eyes were followed for 6 months.

Results:

The study included 26 eyes of 13 patients. For Visual Acuity, at 6 months follow-up in Right Eye UCDVA improved 70% patients, UCIVA improved in 62% patient and UCNVA improved in 93% patients while in Left Eye UCDVA improved 62% patients, UCIVA improved in 46% patients and UCNVA improved in 77% patients. For BCVA, in Right Eye BCDVA improved in 77% patients, BCIVA improved in 85% patients and BCNVA improved in 93% patients while in Left Eye BCDVA improved in 77% patients, BCIVA improved in 70% patients and BCNVA improved in 85% patients.

Conclusions:

Based on our postoperative experience, we have found Eyecryl ACTV DIYHS600ROH IOL implantation reduces the refractive effects and improves distance, intermediate and near visual acuity in cataract patients.
