LONDON
London is a vibrant and bustling capital city that dates back to Roman times. You can walk in the footsteps of Shakespeare, or Dickens, or Churchill, journey along the Thames, as Henry VIII did, or visit the room in the Tower of London where Sir Francis Drake lived out his last days. A lot of the city can be explored on foot quite easily, or, alternatively, see the sights from a boat on the River Thames or from a traditional London taxi. Take the time to visit some of the best known historic buildings and sights, including Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, St Paul’s Cathedral, Trafalgar Square and Covent Garden. Pageantry, such as the Changing of the Guard, is concentrated at Buckingham Palace. The city is also home to numerous museums and galleries, including the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Natural History Museum, the British Museum, and the National and Tate Galleries. Shoppers are equally well served, with a range of options from the high street shops on Regent Street and Oxford Street, to the upmarket areas of Mayfair and Knightsbridge.
