The European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Press-room is provided by the Society for journalists to facilitate media access to the annual congress. The press-room is managed by ESCRS staff and BV Conseil ( our French public relations agency)
1. Employees or representatives from the editorial staff of the following types of media outlets are invited to register for media credentials to attend the ESCRS congress:
. Ophthalmic or other healthcare publications
. General circulation newspapers, magazines, newsletters
. News services and syndicates
. Broadcast media
. Electronic media
2. Media representatives must present a business card or some other acceptable form of identification listing their editorial title. Job titles that are considered not acceptable include, but are not limited to, Principal, Partner, Account Executive, Sales Manager and Advertising Manager.
3. Freelance reporters are required to present a letter of assignment from the editorial department of a recognized media outlet. In lieu of this, two samples of articles from a recognized publication, with the freelance reporter's byline, are acceptable.
4. Employees or representatives from public relations, advertising or marketing firms are not allowed to obtain media credentials from the Academy.
5. The media may not attend any wet-labs (surgical courses or instructional courses.
6. An ESCRS staff member must accompany all video and film crews from news organisations. Please check with the pressroom staff, as soon as possible, to schedule a time for someone to accompany the video or film crew. Scheduling is subject to the availability of the Newsroom staff.
7. Any recorded or photographed material is for editorial use only in conjunction with a news story.
8. Registered media are allowed regular access to the press during regular exhibit hall hours. Others are allowed in only with the permission of the press-room staff.
9. The ESCRS reserves the right to refuse or ask for the return of media credentials for any reason.
10 . Exhibiting companies may supply appropriate media materials for display and distribution in the Press Room. Materials accepted for the Press room must be formatted as news releases and press kits, sales literature will not be permitted.
11. Exhibitor-sponsored media events or news conferences may not be held in the Palais des Congrès or be scheduled through the Press Room. Messages may be left in the Room for a particular journalist but company representatives are not permitted to make uninvited contact with journalists in, or in the vicinity of, the Press Room.
