Abstracts may be submitted for the following presentation types
- Free Paper
- Poster
- Video Competition
Abstracts must be submitted in English and follow the format below:
- Title (20 words max)
- Purpose (50 words max)
- Setting/Venue (20 words max)
- Methods (100 words max)
- Results (100 words max)
- Conclusions (50 words max)
- Financial Disclosure (YES/NO)
Submitted abstracts will be reviewed, graded and accepted or rejected by the ESONT Committee. The decision of this Committee is final.
When an abstract is accepted for presentation, one of the authors must undertake to present it. The presenter must be a registered delegate for the ESONT Programme.
Formulae should, in general, be avoided.
When using abbreviations or acronyms for the first time, care should be taken to spell them out in full with the abbreviation in parentheses after the full word/s the first time it appears in the text. The abbreviation should be used alone thereafter.
All abstracts selected will be published in the Book of Abstracts. The abstract will appear as submitted.
Details regarding the audio visual facilities and requirements at the Congress Centre will be sent to all presenters with confirmation of acceptance of their abstract.
Only one abstract per author will be accepted for the Free Paper Programme.
An electronic poster is easily prepared as a maximum of 6 PowerPoint slides and authors of accepted poster abstracts will receive full details on how to submit their presentation in advance of the Congress 
All accepted poster presentations will be judged by the ESONT Committee. A first prize of €750 and a second prize of €500 will be awarded to the best posters.  

All submissions to the Video Competition will be judged by the ESONT Committee and the winners will be announced in Stockholm, a first prize of €750 and a second prize of €500 will be awarded.
To enter the Video Competition you must submit an abstract by the deadline of 31 May and the accompanying video tape by the deadline of 30 June.
Submissions for the Video Competition are invited on any topic of interest to the ophthalmic nurse or technician.  
The total duration of the video, including title and credits, must not exceed 8 minutes.
The video must include a narration, music alone will not be accepted.
The title and narration of the video must be in English.
Only VHS, SVHS, mini DV and DVD in PAL Format will be accepted for the Video Competition.
Under no circumstances will CD-Roms and videotapes in NTSC format be accepted.
The total duration of the video, including title and credits, must not exceed 8 minutes.
Videos which promote a company name or logo, acknowledge sponsorship or promote commercial products, will be not be accepted.
Generic names should be used instead of product names, where possible.
Instruments can be shown briefly, but not exceeding 10 seconds.
Videos on any topic relating to cataract or refractive surgery will be accepted.
Videos will not be accepted for the Video Competition if they have been presented anywhere in the world in previous years. However, videos shown at other congresses during the current year will be accepted.
As your video will not be returned, do not send the master copy
Send only 1 copy of your video and make sure it is labeled. Send your video to:
