Abstract Details

To show and share my PRK technic and posoperative treatment.

IOF Clinicas Rincon. Refractive Surgery Clinic

One hundred of eyes had been followed for 18 months after PRK surgery. Refractions were myopia from -6 to +3 of spherical, and -3 of astigmatism. Principal steps of the technic were big epithelium removing, near the limbus; MMC applied in all cases; therapeutic contact lens during 5-7 days; and three or four months of topical steroids decreasing

No patients developed haze after 18 months from the surgery. As the same way, we dind't have any problem with epithelium. The visual results were satisfactory, with only 3% of them needed retreatment.

Significant haze occurs less than 0.5-4%, depending of different risk factors, and the problem with the epithelium is other of the secondary efects of PRK, Based on my technic, surgeons should consider it, because I didn't have any problem with haze and epithelium.
