Abstract Details

Purpose:

To investigate the optical quality of central hole Visian implantable Collamer lens (ICL V4C) for high myopia.

Setting:

ENT Hospital, Fudan University, Key Laboratory of Health Ministry for Myopia, Shanghai 200031, China

Methods:

Prospective clinical study. All patients conform to the indications of ICL in preoperative examinations. 15 eyes of 9 patients were enrolled in the study (3 males, 6 females, -11D ~-18D ). Every patient experienced a 3-month follow-up after a standard ICLV4C implantation procedure. An optical quality analysis system (OQAS) was used to measure modulation transfer function cutoff frequency (MTFcutoff, cycle per degree, cpd), Strehl ratio (SR) and objective scatter index (OSI).

Results:

All patients had postoperative refraction in spherical equivalent less than 0.50D; corrected distance visual acuities of all the subjects were equal to or better than the preoperative ones, Mean OSI was 0.65 (0.18-1.70) MTFcutoff and SR did not change significantly compared with preoperative values (mean 41.66, range from 33.48 to 53.61) .SR was 0.24 (range from 0.18-0.30), OV100% was 1.39( range from 1.11 to 1.79)、OV20% was 1.41( range from 1.06 to 1.87)、OV9% was 1.42( range from 1.11 to 1.87).

Conclusions:

The outcomes showed good optical quality of V4C (Hole ICL) for high myopia. It needs further study to detect if the hole decentering have effects on visual performance.
