Abstract Details

Purpose:

The aim of the paper is to compare CCT measurement results obtained by different instruments measuring CCT: Oculyzer, BioGraph and ultrasound pachymetry.

Setting:

The measurements were performed at the Vision and Eye Center Maja in Niš, Serbia.

Methods:

CCT was measured in 64 eyes of 32 patients (15 males and 17 females, aged 33±4,03 years). Patients with any corneal pathology affecting corneal thickness and structure were excluded from the study. The measurements were performed at the Vision and Eye Center Maja in Niš using WaveLight Allegro Oculyzer, WaveLight Allergo BioGraph, DGH Pachette 3 ultrasound pachymetry. Five consecutive measurements of CCT were performed in all 64 eyes using ultrasound pachimetry by two examiners. The mean CCT values obtained by different devices were compared.

Results:

The mean values of CCT (± standard deviation) obtained with Oculyzer were 553,48±22,88µm, 556,86±25,32µm obtained with BioGraph and 558,46±26,0µm obtained with ultrasound pachymetry. There were no statistically significant differences among different measurement devices. The greatest difference recorded was between CCT measured with Oculyzer and ultrasound pachymetry, although not statistically significant either.

Conclusions:

The results of CCT measurements with Oculyzer, BioGraph and ultrasound pachymetry do not show statistically significant differences, thus the results of CCT obtained by any of these instruments are considered to be valid.
