Abstract Details

We report feasibility and safety of femtosecond-laser assisted cataract surgery (FLACS) with simultaneous Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) explantation.

Augenklinik Luzerner Kantonsspital,Luzern, Switzerland.

This study evaluated six eyes of four patients that were subject to FLACS with simultaneous ICL explantation. Capsulotomy and lens fragmentation were performed with the aid of femtosecond-laser system. OCT detection, total laser time, vacuum time as well as the need of further phacoemulsification were analysed. Intraoperative complications and visual outcome were evaluated.

OCT recognition by femtosecond-laser worked well, ICL was recorded accordingly and treatment not disturbed at all. Total laser time ranged from 21.7 to 85.9 seconds, and vacuum time from 4.04 to 9.02 minutes. None of the cases needed further phacoemulsification. No intraoperative complications were recorded and best-corrected visual acuity improved by 4 Snellen lines in all patients.

ICL explantation with simultaneous FLACS is feasible and safe.
