Abstract Details

Purpose:

To identify changes in uveoscleral outflow after cataract phacoemulsification with posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation in patients with primary glaucoma

Setting:

V.P. Vykhodtsev Eye Hospital, Omsk State Medical University, Omsk, Russian Federation

Methods:

The study involved 153 patients (153 eyes) with cataract and primary open angle glaucoma. All patients were divided into three groups: 51 eyes with cataract without glaucoma (first group), 51 eyes with cataract and the initial stage of primary open angle glaucoma (second group), 51 eyes with cataract and advanced stage primary open angle glaucoma (third group). Patients underwent pneumotonometry, electronic tonography with vacuum compression using the interface of femtosecond laser The study examined of index Cuveo - coefficient for ease of movement uveoscleral outflow. The observation period was of 6 months.

Results:

Cataract phacoemulsification with IOL implantation lowers IOP in patients with cataracts without glaucoma (3 to 5 mm Hg – in 21.57% of cases, more than 5 mm Hg - in 58.8% of cases), in patients with initial and advanced stages of glaucoma (3 to 5 mmHg - 33.3% and 13.7% of cases, more than 5 mm Hg - at 49.02% and 56.9%, respectively) Increase of uveoscleral outflow occurred in all groups after cataract phacoemulsification with IOL implantation, but more pronounced in patients without glaucoma and in patients with initial stage of the disease

Conclusions:

IOP reduction after cataract phacoemulsification was, among other factors, by activation additional outflow FINANCIAL DISCLOUSRE: NONE
