Treatment of corneal opacities caused by adenoviral keratitis after femtoLASIK for myopia

Purpose:

to demonstrate effect of phototherapeutic keratectomy for the treatment of corneal opacities after adenoviral keratitis after Femto-Lasik for myopia.

Setting:

National Center of Ophthalmology named after academician Zarifa Aliyeva, Baku, Azerbaijan

Methods:

a case report

Results:

24 year old patient with adenoviral keratitis 1 year after Femto-Lasik for myopia. Visual acuity 0.6, in biomicroscopy abundant corneal opacities in subepithelial layers of cornea. Phototherapeutic keratectomy was performed (depth - 80mkm, optic zone - 7.0mm) on excimer laser MEL-80. After surgery, visual acuity 0.9 without correction, in biomicroscopy any opaque was not seen during the 2 year follow-up.

Conclusions:

phototherapeutic keratectomy in treatment of subepithelial opaque of the cornea after adenoviral keratitis in eyes after Femto-Lasik is effective method for visual acuity recovery.
