Presbyond: laser correction for presbyopia

Purpose:

Presbyond is a new corneal excimerlaser-surgery to correct Presbyopia binocular simultaneously.

Setting:

Klaus Ditzen, M.D., Bahnhofstr. 18, City Center Weinheim, 69469, Germany

Methods:

Presbyond incorporates micro-monovision, depth of field to reduce anisometropia, controls spherical aberration, has blur adaption, neural summation, retinal image processing.

Results:

Presbyond shows with a larger optical zone (6,5 mm) excellent results: In a study of 41 eyes over one year the dominant eye was corrected to zero, the non-dominant eye to -1,5 D. The patients postoperatively needed no reading-glasses. No night vision and constrast-sensitivity problems were noted. Higher order aberrations were postoperatively more in myopic-, less in hyperopic corrected eyes.

Conclusions:

Presbyond is a customized binocular laser treatment for all presbyopic distances with the advantage of micro-monovision and increased depth of field in both eyes. No loss of stereo -acuity, a good intermediate vision and an image fusion were seen.
