Topography-guided laser treatments for complicated cases

Abstract Details



Purpose:

To evaluate results of topography-guided ablation for treatments of complicated cases. To analyze the clinical cases.

Setting:

Excimer Eye Clinic, Moscow, Russia

Methods:

Topography-guided ablation with using of WaveLigth EyeQ 400 Hz excimer laser was performed on 26 eyes of patients with different corneal pathology. There were patients after previous refractive surgery, with central scarring due to keratitis and trauma, with irregular astigmatism. PRK was performed in 22 cases and LASIK in 4 case. Preoperative examination included usual measurements for laser correction and using of special programm on Oculyser II (Pentacam).

Results:

In 85% cases were achieved improving of BCVA. 4 eyes have required repeated procedures. In 2 cases was observed decreasing of BCVA.

Conclusions:

Topography-guided laser treatments - is good surgery decision for complicated cases. But itÂ’s individual work which need a perfect preoperative examination and high qualification of laser surgeon.
