Abstract Details

Purpose:

To study the results after refraction lensectomya at patients with myopia very high degree.

Setting:

“Eye Microsurgery clinic”, Minsk, Belarus, Pazniak S., Pazniak N., Kovshel N.

Methods:

Analysed results of refraction lensectomya (365operations) at patients in the age of from 23 till 58 years with myopia very high degree from-15,0 up to-36,0D. Length of an eye 31,1+2,0mm. Uncorrected visual acuity before operation 0,01ḟ0,01, with correction 0,15ḟ0,01. Operations are executed on Infinity (Alcon). To all patients it is executed refraction lensectomya with implantation acrylic IOL. Calculation of IOL was made under formula SRK T counting upon postoperative emmetropia refraction. All operations proceeded without complications. In 32 cases IOL have been implanted on method " piggy back ".

Results:

in the postoperative period visual acuity without correction has made results 0,35ḟ0,05, with correction 0,5ḟ0,1. The refraction has made -1,25ḟ0,55?.

Conclusions:

Refraction lensectomya in supermyopic eyes is effective, safe procedure. The method of "piggy back" gives the intended refraction and high visual acuity in supermyopia.
