To assess the UCVA for far and near distance after implantation of SeeLens multifocal IOL To assess patients subjective satisfaction with the visual result after the operation To assess the perception of disturbing symptoms, such as: decreased contrast sensitivity, halo, haze, glare and blurred vision
St.Petka Eyeclinic, Varna, Bulgaria
A prospective study was performed. We followed 9 patients (16 eyes) at the age from 38 to 71 years after phacoemulsification and SeeLens MF IOL implantation. None of them had any other ocular pathology /preoperative screening for macular pathology was performed/. All of the patients had their IOL calculated by Lenstar optical biometer. Distance and near VA was measured using the Snellen Chart at the same examination. A contrast sensitivity test was performed. An assessment of patients subjective satisfaction /reading small print, newspaper, large print book, recognizing people, seeing steps, doing fine handwork, playing games, cooking, watching TV, driving during day and night/ scored from 1 to 6 was made.
Most of our patients 56,25% have UCVA for distance 20/20; 81,25% have UCVA for near 20/25 and above, a visual acuity that definitely gives independence on the use of reading glasses.
Multifocal IOLSeeLens provide great depth of focus , good distance and near vision and high patients satisfaction and comfort of life with few unwanted photic phenomena.
