To evaluate the visual outcomes after implantation of an angle- supported anterior chamber phakic lens (Alcon AcrySof Cachet) in myopic eyes with astigmatism higher than 0,50 D and lower than 2,00 D.
Department of Ophthalmology at Centro Hospitalar Baixo Vouga.
Observational study of 25 myopic eyes with astigmatism higher than 0,50 D and lower than 2,00 D. Phakic IOLs were implanted by the same surgeon in topical anesthesia. Outcomes of uncorrected and best-corrected visual acuities were evaluated 1 day, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year after surgery.
Significant improvement in uncorrected distance visual acuities were found postoperatively, with significant reduction in spherical equivalent (p?0.01). No eyes experienced a loss in best-corrected visual acuity. At final follow-up, all eyes showed an uncorrected visual acuity of 20/32 or better and all patients were satisfied with their sugery.
The implantation of the Alcon AcrySof Cachet IOL is an effective method for the correction of moderate to high myopia in eyes with astigmatism higher than 0,50 D and lower than 2,00 D.
