Stereo acuity in patients undergoing ICL insertion for moderate to high myopia

Purpose:

To evaluate the changes in Stereo acuity using TNO test for near and distance vision in moderate and high myopes undergoing post chamber Phakic ICLs.

Setting:

Refractive clinic, Tertiary eye care center of India

Methods:

Patients of moderate (4-10 D) and high (more than 10 dioptres and upto 23 Diopteres)had stereo acuity tested before and after ICL insertion. These were performed for near and distance vision using TNO test with Polaroid glasses. The test was performed at 1 wk and 1 month follow ups. The results were statistically analyzed.

Results:

There was absence of Stereo acuity in 50% of these cases preoperative for distance vision and 30% for near vision.The stereo acuity improved in all cases in postoperative period, the high myopes showed the max gain in distance acuity as compared to preoperative findings.

Conclusions:

Post ICL the stereo acuity had improved in all the cases .
