Abstract Details

Purpose:

To show endothelial cell count evolution in patients wearing Visian ICL myopic lens after 12 years follow-up

Setting:

Instituto de Microcirugía Ocular (IMO). C/ Josep Maria Lladó, 3. 08035 Barcelona. Spain

Methods:

After 12 years of implant of a posterior chamber phakic intraocular lens ( Visan ICL ), an endothelial cell count was performed in a 5 eyes of three patients, who comes for standard chech up. The non contact specular microscope -Konan SP 6000 – was used

Results:

The mean reduction in the endothelial density was 281.5ḟ384.8 cells/mm2. There was a statistically significant differencent in the patient with monocular implantation. All 5 eyes have more than 2000 cells/mm2

Conclusions:

The mean reduction in the endothelial density was 281.5ḟ384.8 cells/mm2. There was a statistically significant differencent in the patient with monocular implantation. All 5 eyes have more than 2000 cells/mm2.
