To compare intraoperative static cyclotorsions before flap cut, after flap cut, and after flap lift on the same eye in eyes that underwent LASIK treatments with advanced cyclotorsion control using the SCHWIND AMARIS.
Muscat Eye Laser Center, Muscat Sultanate of Oman
One hundred and sixty-three eyes were treated. Treatments were planned with Custom-Ablation Manager and ablations performed using the SCHWIND AMARIS. LASIK flaps were cut with a LDV femtosecond laser. Cyclotorsional movements were evaluated for static cyclotorsion (SCC) three times on the same eye (before flap cut, after flap cut, and after flap lift).
Registration rates were 98% before flap cut, 86% after flap cut, and 76% after flap lift. SCC was not statistically different (p>.1) and well correlated (p<.0001) whether taken before flap cut, after flap cut, or after flap lift on the same eye. Mean SCC differences were -0.1ḟ1.4Ḟ, 0.0ḟ1.0Ḟ, and +0.1ḟ1.4Ḟ for before flap cut, after flap cut, and after flap lift, respectively. 95% of the SCC measurements were within 2.8Ḟ.
LASIK with advanced cyclotorsion compensation using the SCHWIND AMARIS is safe and predictable and yields superior visual outcomes. Intraoperative static cyclotorsions before flap cut, after flap cut, and after flap lift on the same eye are interchangeable, but registration rates are higher % before flap cut, and lower after flap lift.
