Abstract Details

Purpose:

To asses the outcomes of mirror telescopic intraocular lens (IOL) OriLens implantation

Setting:

Department of Ophthalmology, University Hospital, Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic

Methods:

The mirror telescopic IOL OriLens is designed to magnify the image only on the central retina with normal unchaged peripheral vision. It should be fixated in the sulcus over a regular “in the bag” implanted IOL.We have implanted two OriLens in two patients with macular degenerations.

Results:

No perioperative or postoperative complications were observed. The patients gained 1, resp.0 ETDRS lines for far vision, and 3, resp. 1 ETDRS lines for near vision 2 months after surgery.

Conclusions:

OriLens represents the state of art in intraocular implants for central retinal disorders. Supported in part by Charles University in Prague - Programme P37/07 (PRVOUK). None of the authors has a finantial or proprietary interest in any product mentioned.
