to study preliminary results of a slowly resorbable viscoelastic drainage implant HealaFlow implantation in surgical treatment of primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG).
The S.N. Fyodorov Eye Microsurgery Federal State Institution, Volgograd Branch
there were examined 28 patients (28 eyes) with various stages of POAG after microinvasive non-penetrating deep sclerectomy with implantation of drainage implant HealaFlow. Mean patients age was 68,6ḟ1,9 years. Patients distribution according to POAG stage was as follows: I stage-6 persons (21,5 %), II stage 5 persons (17,8%) and III stage 17 patients (60,7%).
preoperative IOP equaled 30,6ḟ1,1 mm Hg. Postoperative normalization of IOP level was achieved in all the cases and ranged from 13 to 18 mm Hg. One month postoperatively mean IOP value was 16,5ḟ1,2 mm Hg. Three months postop IOP value averaged 16,3ḟ1,14 mm Hg. Ultrasound biomicroscopy confirmed formation of consistently active moderately expressed filtering bleb. In two patients (7,1%) uncomplicated Descemetogoniopuncture was performed, good hypotensive results were achieved (IOP level - 14 and 16 mm Hg).
application of drainage implant HealaFlow in surgical treatment of glaucoma provides a good hypotensive effect. This implant is easy to use and allows preserving subconjunctival and intrascleral spaces.
