Abstract Details

To investigate usefulness of anty-VEGF drops (Avastin) in inhibition of corneal neovascularisation

Department of Ophthalmology, University Hospital No. 5, Medical University of Silesia, Katowice, Poland; Tommed, Katowice, Poland

10 patients with severe corneal neovascularisation (5 after infectious keratitis, 3 after corneal transplant and 2 after limbal insufficiency caused by extended contact lens wear) underwent topical therapy with anty-VEGF drops (1% Avastin) 3 times a day for 4 weeks

Inhibition of corneal neovascularisation was observed after one week in all patients and continued for the whole period of observation. In four patients the therapy had to be repeated because of incomplete remission of neovascularisation

Anty-VEGF therapy exerts an inhibitory effect on corneal neovascularisation caused by different factors
