Ophthalmology Department , Zagazig University , Egypt

The stydy is a prospective comparetive study included 2 groups of patients with keratomycosis, the first group treated by single intrastromal injection of amphotericin B 0.02 mg-ml beside topical fluconazole 2mg-ml and the second group treated by topical amphotericin B 0.3 mg-ml alone , both groups were statistically analyzed according to healing percentage and duration and toxic drugs effects

The results revealed that the group treated by the combined therapy shows high percentage of healing 73% with mean duration 24 days versus 55% with mean duration 37 days in the second group of topical treatment only also the first group showed less toxic manifestation than the second group

combined intrastromal injection of amphotericin B and topical fluconazole can provide a good modality in treatment of cases of keratomycosis for high potent antifungal effects, shorter healing duration and less toxicity
