To analyze the application of bioptics in patients with age-related cataract.
Republican Ophtalmological cener, Belarus, Minsk.
Phacoemulsification was performed to the patients with high degrees of ametropia and age-related cataract. Patients were divided into 2 groups. In 1-st group (5 patients) FemtoLASIK (IntraLase FS60 femtosecond laser and STAR S4 IR eximer laser) was performed after cataract extraction and toric IOL impantation to eliminate the residual spherical component. In group 2 (4 patients) with multifocal IOL implantations, the residual astigmatism was eliminated by FemtoLASIK.
All patients remained satisfied after surgical intervention. Emmetropia was achieved in 95%. Uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA) 20/20 was in 57% of cases. And 47% of the remained patients had amblyopia of different degrees. Terms of the full rehabilitation period consisted 6 month.
Bioptics is an effective method to achieve best optical result after the extraction of age-related cataract. No financial disclosure.
