Abstract Details

Purpose:

to evaluate the advantages of the new hydrophobic toric enVista IOL implantation in case of cataract and corneal astigmatism.

Setting:

The Dr Solomatin eye center, RIga, Latvia

Methods:

22 eyes of 20 patients with the cataract and the corneal astigmatism were examinated previous the surgery and 5 monthes postop. The power of the toric IOLs was calculated using B&L online toric IOL calculator.

Results:

The mean preoperative keratometric cylinder was 2,55+ 0,74 ( range from 1,5 till 2,75 D.), and the mean postoperative cylinder was 0,52+ 0,27 D. The mean surgicaly induced astigmatism was 0,1 +0,45 D. The mean postop spherical equivalent was + 0,13 + 0,44 D. The task error was below 7 degrees in 95,5% cases.

Conclusions:

Cataract surgery with the new toric IOL reduces high corneal astigmatism and improves surgical outcomes.
