To present our experience of femtosecond laser in the management of paediatric cataracts.
Maxivision Eye Hospital
Retrospective chart review of all children less than 12 years of age and had cataract surgery using VICTUS femtosecond laser platform for capsulotomy. Surgery was completed by STELLARIS phacoemulsification system with implantation of foldable IOLs.
This series involved 14 eyes of 8 patients ( 6 patients congenital cataract, both eyes; 2 patients traumatic cataract, one eye only). 5 mm anterior capsulotomy was done using femtosecond laser. In patients with traumatic cataract laser capsulotomy was performed in the stable area. Rest of the procedure was uneventful. Post operatively all eyes were quiet and there was improvement in visual acuity in all recorded cases.
VICTUS femtosecond laser platform is useful in creating anterior capsulotomy in congenital and traumatic cataracts in children.
