Abstract Details

Cataract phacoemulsification in patients with pseudoexfoliation syndrome patients is associated with a change in the anatomical, topographic and hydrodynamic parameters. The purpose of the study was to analyse the relationship of these changes according to the eye length.

Moscow Region Research Clinical Institute

30 patients with pseudoexfoliation syndrome were divided into groups, myopes, emmetropes and hyperopes depending on the size of the eye. All the patients underwent uncomplicated phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation and the changes of anatomotopografic and hydrodynamic parameters were assessed.

It was found that after cataract phacoemulsification in all groups significantly increased the depth of the anterior chamber, distance iris-trabecula in 500mcm from the scleral spur, anterior chamber angle, and angle 'sclera-iris'.

The increase of linear and angular parameters was the largest in the group of patients with hyperopia. In hyperopic group manifestations of reactive syndrome - IOP raise and lowering of corneal hysteresis on the first day after surgery were most pronounced, and also hyperopes had more significant reduction in intraocular pressure from baseline at 2 weeks after surgery.
